Berrien Springs Trip
Since its been three years since I’d seen my dear friend Marcy, Ronald and I decided 6 months in advance that we would visit when she came home this summer from Taiwan. Besides, we said, it would be a good excuse to get out of the house! We were a little hesitant to drive so long with our 20 month old son. The trip was 10 hours both ways. However, Jadon surprised us this year by being such a good boy in the car. It helped that we bought a dvd player and made a visit to the library for a bunch of educational dvd’s before we left. We arrived late so we put Jadon right to bed so we could chat for a while longer. Sabbath was relaxing and we slept in before heading to church. They made us a pasta lunch followed by two delicious chocolate desserts! After Jadon woke up from his nap we went for a nice stroll along Lake Michigan’s beautiful shore.
Sunday we had a Berrien Springs special brunch called “Magic Mountain” which I will NEVER forget! yummy. We then drove to Andrews University to take a short self-guided tour but while taking pictures of the beautiful new entrance, Jadon fell on the brick and split his forehead into a bleeding mess. We promptly took him back to Marcy’s mom and sister who took care of his wound and then we put him to bed. We turned around and went back for our little tour. Andrew’s University was a gorgeous campus and we even ran into some old friends from Saipan. What a great surprise.
Our last adventure on Sunday included another trip to the beach and Marcy’s family’s favorite pizza place in St. Joseph. It was such a relaxing time catching up with Marcy and getting to know her family. It was truly the highlight of our year. I miss you already Marcy and I hope I get to see you sooner than 3 years from now.
“Sweet” Quality Time
Since Jadon was born and Tiffany has needed more help with our energetic boy, the weekends have become more and more Jadon and daddy time, which gives Tiffany a rest from the duties of the week. This weekend was particularly memorable because I got to spend a lot of time with Jadon walking on the beach; talking to him and listening to his soft exploratory baby talk… and Tiffany got to spend some quality time with Marcy.
Beyond sharing some wonderful memories with Jadon and enjoying this phase of his growth years I learned a lot about honey bees, and was inspired to take up the bee keeping hobby 🙂 I guess we’ll see what the future holds, but I was told that I have the interest and I can tolerate bee stings (which I received Sabbath afternoon while visiting the hives). Thank you to Mr. Moore for sharing your years of bee keeping knowledge and Marcy for sharing your family with us this past weekend!
Tiffany, Ronald, and Jadon!
